A gigafactory

A 5 GW TOPCon cell fab: 780 GWh a year at a 105 MW peak, running round the clock through texturing, diffusion, coating, printing and firing. Choose which roofs carry solar, add open-access solar, wind and storage, and run.

Illustrative demo for discussion. The figures are indicative for a site of this kind and are not a solved result. A site’s own numbers come from its metered load, tariff order and quotes, through a certified optimisation of that site.

What it is telling you/ read this bit

The roofs are the start,
not the answer.

Roofs are small

Every roof on the campus together carries under 15 MWp against a 105 MW peak. Rooftop solar is the cheapest unit and the first thing to build, and on its own it moves the cost of electricity by a few percent.

Open access does the work

The wheeled solar park and the wind farm carry most of the saving, because they are sized to the load rather than to the roof area. Wind earns its place by generating in the evening and at night, when the fab is still running and solar is not.

Storage earns with a partner

A battery on grid electricity alone shaves peaks and little else. Paired with open-access generation it shifts what the site could not otherwise consume into the blocks where the load sits, which is where its larger share of the saving comes from.

Illustrative, and it says so

The figures are fixed and indicative for a site of this kind. Five seconds does not solve anything: the run is a picture of the plan, not an optimisation. A real answer comes from a year of metered load, the tariff order in force and quotes, solved block by block for that site.

In short/ RE Transition Studio

RE Transition Studio is an interactive, illustrative demonstration of a 5 GW TOPCon solar-cell gigafactory switching its round-the-clock load to rooftop, open access solar, wind and storage.

Pick the roofs to cover, add open access solar and wind, add battery storage, and run the year. The campus starts on grid electricity at ₹6.70/kWh and ends, in the illustrative case, at ₹3.89/kWh with the portfolio drawn on the site plan and the supply stack shown hour by hour. It is a demonstration of how the pieces fit for a very large round-the-clock load, not a quotation.

What to take away

  • The illustrative campus is a 5 GW/yr TOPCon solar-cell gigafactory with a round-the-clock load.
  • The illustrative cost of electricity moves from ₹6.70/kWh on grid to ₹3.89/kWh on the full portfolio.

What it assumes

  • All figures are illustrative; tariffs, capacity factors and open access charges are state- and year-specific.

Questions this page answers

Is this a real project?
No. It is an illustrative demonstration carried over from a standalone jouleWise demo. The numbers are internally consistent for the campus shown, not a client result.
Can I run it for my plant?
Use REplanner to size a portfolio against your own consumption, or ask for a four-week baseline, which builds the case on your metered load.

Next/ your campus

Run it on
your meter data.

The demo shows which way the answer moves. Your position is decided by your load profile, your state’s open access charges and your roof, and that starts with a metered baseline.
